Dr. Samuel A. Mickelson earned his Bachelor’s degree with high distinction in 1978 and completed his medical degree in 1982, both at the University of Michigan. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology -Head and Neck Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in 1987.

Following residency, he served as the Residency Training Program Director in the Department of Otolaryngology at Henry Ford Hospital from 1987 to 1996. Since 1996, he has been in Atlanta, Georgia where he is the Director of The Atlanta Snoring and Sleep Disorders Institute, Medical Director of Advanced Sleep Laboratoriesand physician member of Advanced Ear Nose & Throat Associates. His clinical practice focuses exclusively on the diagnosis and treatment of snoring and sleep apnea and nasal and sinus disease.

Dr. Mickelson is Board Certified by both the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and the American Board of Sleep Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has served as an examiner for the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery Examination. He is a past chair of the Sleep Disorders Committee for the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and is an active member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Mickelson has a special interest in the non-surgical (CPAP, BiPAP, AutoPAP and adjustable oral appliances) and surgical treatment of snoring and sleep apnea with experience in a variety of advanced surgical procedures such as Somnoplasty, Injection Snoreplasty, palatal implants, laser palatal surgery, robotic tongue reduction, genioglossus and hyoid advancement, hypoglossal nerve stimulation, and adjustable tongue suspension. As sleep lab Medical Director, he oversees and interprets both in home and in lab sleep studies. He also has expertise in endoscopic surgery for nasal and sinus disease, ear surgery, and head and neck cancer.

His research interests have led to publications in many professional journals, and books. Dr. Mickelson has also presented numerous papers at local, state and national society meetings and has been an invited speaker at many instructional courses on the management of snoring, sleep apnea and sinusitis.

Dr. Mickelson has been named as one of the best doctors in Atlanta by the Atlanta Magazine for 2001 and as one of the best doctors in the United States by Who’s Who since 1996.

Dr. Mickelson has medical staff privileges at Northside Hospital, Saint Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Scottish Rite), Atlanta Outpatient Surgery Center and Perimeter Surgery Center.

Dr. Andrew R. Golde earned his medical degree in 1988 from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He completed an internship at the University of Ottawa, followed by training in general surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine. He graduated in 1994 from the Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery residency program at the University of Toronto. Dr. Golde has served as a lecturer on the Academic Staff in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Toronto until moving to Atlanta in 1995.Golde_small

Dr. Golde is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and the American College of Surgeons, and is board certified by both the American Board of Otolaryngology and the Royal College of Surgeons. His many memberships include those in the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, the Canadian Society of Otolaryngology and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Golde has been in private practice in Atlanta since 1995, and has established an outstanding reputation as both a physician and surgeon in the field of ear, nose and throat disorders. His goal in founding Advanced Ear, Nose & .roat Associates, P.C. is to provide optimal medical care to his patients in the face of a changing medical environment. Similarly, Dr. Golde has created .e Atlanta Nasal and Sinus Institute as a center of excellence for treatment of nasal and sinus disorders utilizing the latest and most advanced techniques available.

Dr. Golde’s scope of practice includes functional and cosmetic nasal surgery, three-dimensional computer-assisted endoscopic sinus surgery, laser surgery of the upper airway, voice restoration surgeries, medical and surgical treatment of snoring and sleep apnea, treatment of hearing loss, pediatric otolaryngology, and surgical treatment of thyroid and parathyroid gland diseases. He is also one of the few physicians in north Georgia that treats spasmodic dysphonia using BOTOX injections.

Dr. Golde is the Medical Director for the Atlanta Nasal and Sinus Institute. He has been named one of the top thyroid surgeons in the State of Georgia. He is guest lecturer at the Atlanta School of Sleep Medicine, and is a well known speaker in the medical community in Atlanta. Dr. Golde has published research articles in several professional journals, co-authored a chapter in a textbook on thoracic surgery, and presented papers at scientific meetings. He has also performed prize-winning basic science research in tissue oxygen monitoring for purposes of reconstructive surgery.

Aaron Rogers, MD, FACS

Dr. Aaron Rogers is the newest member of the Advanced ENT team. He completed medical school at the University of South Florida with Honors in Research and Alpha Omega Alpha distinctions. Subsequently Dr. Rogers was selected to attend the Emory University residency in Otolaryngology in Atlanta. After finishing a general surgery internship in 2006, the next four years were spent completing the Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery training program. His final year at Emory was spent as Chief Resident for the department.

Dr. Rogers is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery, the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, and the Georgia Society of Otolaryngology. His professional interests include treatments of nasal and sinus conditions, endoscopic skull base procedures, endoscopic voice surgery, neck and throat lesions, and general ear, nose and throat disorders.

Dr. Rogers has written several scientific publications, editor of a nationally-distributed pocket guide for ENT trainees, and authored a chapter in the textbook Skullbase Surgery Techniques and Concepts. Additionally he has presented medical research at many recent leading national scientific conferences.

Dr. Rogers’ personal interests include spending time with his wife Barbara and a myriad of outdoor activities. When not at work he can usually be found running, cycling, golfing or fly fishing.

Local hospital affiliations include Northside Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health Center, Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, Perimeter Surgery Center and Meridian Mark Surgery Center. He also volunteers his time teaching other physicians and treating patients at Grady Hospital on a regular basis.

 

Steven R. Bomeli, MD

Dr. Steven Bomeli was raised in Cleveland, Ohio and went to the University of Notre Dame for undergraduate studies. He completed medical school at the University of Virginia School of

Medicine, and residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. This training included all aspects of comprehensive otolaryngology, in addition to complex head and neck and skull base surgery. During his final two years of residency, he was awarded the outstanding educator award by his peers. After finishing residency, he practiced as a general otolaryngologist outside of Charlotte, NC where he found his passion for thyroid and parathyroid surgery.

He then completed an additional year of advanced fellowship training in complex thyroid and parathyroid surgery at Georgia Regents University. This subspecialty training included nerve monitoring, ultrasonography, and minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques.

Dr. Bomeli is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, and he is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, American Head and Neck Society, and the American Thyroid Association.

His personal interests include automobile restoration, traveling, and outdoor activities with his wife, son, and daughter.

Sanjay Bhansali MD

Dr. Sanjay A. Bhansali earned a bachelor’s degree Magna Cum Laude from Albion College, Albion, Michigan, in 1980, and a medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit, Michigan, in 1984.

He completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, both at Wayne State University of Medicine. Dr. Bhansali completed a fellowship in neurotology/skull base surgery at Ear Consultants of Michigan (Dr. Dennis Bojrab) and The Otology Group (Dr. Michael Glasscock). His practice specializes in evaluation and management of ear disorders, including patients with dizziness, acoustic neuromas, chronic ear infections, facial nerve disorders, tumors of the lateral skull base, implantable hearing devices, and laser surgery of the ear and skull base.

Prior to beginning Ear Consultants of Georgia in 2001, Dr. Bhansali was with an ENT group practice in Atlanta for 7 ½ years. Before coming to Atlanta, he was in full-time academic practice as Assistant Professor in the Section of Otolaryngology at the Medical College of Georgia. He specializes in otology, neurotology, and lateral skull base surgery.

Dr. Bhansali is a diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (1997 Honor Award recipient), the American Neurotology Society, and the North American Skull Base Society. Dr. Bhansali has authored chapters in otolaryngology texts and published articles in several professional journals including Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Laryngoscope, Archives of Otolaryngology, American Journal of Otology, and Ear Nose Throat Journal. He has served on committees of national and local organizations and he has presented papers at professional meetings for many medical societies including the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the American Neurotology Society, the North American Skull Base Society, and the Triological Society.

He is on the staffs of Northside Hospital, Scottish Rite Children’s Medical Center, and Atlanta Outpatient Peachtree Dunwoody Center.

James Wheeler MD

Dr. Wheeler founded the practice in 1979. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Practice. He earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama. He completed his internship at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles County Hospital. Dr. Wheeler completed residencies in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts and in Family Practice at UCLA. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Wheeler has served as Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine at Northside Hospital.
